The Mad Hatter

The Mad Hatter Ornament Design Process
The Mad Hatter ornament was the second keepsake I created for this collection. The March Hare is the Mad Hatter’s partner in crime. So, the Mad Hatter is as whimsical as its partner. After having designed the March Hare, the design of this Mad Hatter character was more simple as I had already made many of the design decisions.
I gave him bright crazy hair and an iconic top hat, so he could be easily distinguishable. I attached to his top hat a sale tag that reads “In this Style 10/6”. Subsequently, I dressed him in bright color trousers, vest, and a bowtie, just like I did the March Hare. I also fitted him with a long jacket with a flower on its lapel. As a final detail, big dress shoes finish his outfit. Last but not least, the Mad Hatter is carrying a teapot or teacup so there is no mistake that he is a main participant in the mad tea party. Finally, his sequin eyes give him a crazy expression appropriate to his name.
